Dentist Garden City
At our dental practice, The Gentle Dentist, we offer a wide range of dental services for all members of the family. Our
dentist Garden City, Dr. Amit Sood, also offers sedation dentistry.
There are many reasons why a patient may want to have sedation dentistry. It is particularly useful for patients who have a fear of dentists, or dental care. With dental sedation, all of our patients are able to receive the care that they need. Many people avoid going to the dentist or having important dental work performed, because they are so fearful of dental offices. Our offer of sedation dentistry takes this fear away. Instead of a patient being fearful about their dental visit, they can have dental care performed while they are completely relaxed and calm. Sedation dentistry can also allow our dentist to perform more work during the dental visit, so our patient will need to come in to our office fewer times in order to have their dental work completed. At our office, we use oral conscious sedation. This is not to be confused with general anesthesia. With conscious sedation, our patient is aware of what is going on around him, but remains perfectly relaxed. Initially, an oral sedation medicine is given to the patient. Adults can take this medicine in pill form, and for children we can provide this in a liquid. When the patient becomes relaxed, the dental work can begin. This sedation allows our
dentist Garden City to provide uninterrupted dental care for up to an hour. Also, the patient will have no memory of their procedure. Patients are able to go through their procedure and only have positive recollections about visiting the office, which will reduce fear for future visits. Sedation dentistry is available for involved dental procedures or simple dental checkups.
