Whether you have teeth that are damaged or missing, our Garden City dental restorations will provide you with the full smile of whole teeth that you're looking for. Here at The Gentle Dentist, we're focused on prevention, and that certainly means helping you to avoid severe tooth decay and the eventual loss of teeth. Of course, some problems are not within ours or your control, such as accidents or injuries that can damage or knock out a tooth. Regardless of how you have come to need one or more teeth restored, however, we're pleased to offer crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants to take care of the situation.
A chipped, cracked, or decayed tooth may need to be strengthened with a crown. Not only is it functional, but it's also gives you a cosmetic benefit. And if you have a tooth that is crooked or discolored, for example, a crown is perfect to cover it and give you a more attractive smile. Crowns (also referred to as caps) are one of the valuable and versatile examples of our Garden City dental restorations.
Bridges and dentures are terms that are sometimes used interchangeably, but for our purposes, we will refer to bridges as fixed restorations and dentures as removable ones. Both are used to replace one or more teeth that you have lost to extraction or through injury or accident. A bridge is cemented to your gum line and given extra sturdiness by anchors to the tooth on either side of it. This, however, does require that those two teeth are drilled down and a crown put on each to hold the anchor in place. Dentures can either by partial, as with a bridge, replacing just a few teeth; or complete, covering the entire upper or lower jaw. With partial dentures, you will be able to get them quickly, with impressions taken and then the dental lab returning our Garden City dental restorations for our dentist to fit them. Complete dentures may need several months before they can be placed, in order to let your gums shrink from the trauma of recently removed teeth. Both are held in with dental adhesive between the dentures and your gums.
The most advanced type of our Garden City dental restorations is a dental implant. It is a permanent solution, replacing not only the tooth above, but the root underneath. It needs no adhesive and has no impact on your surrounding teeth. It simply looks, feels, and acts like a real tooth. It requires several months to complete, as you jaw bone grows around and fuses with the post (the root replacement). But in the end, you will have a prosthetic tooth that is as close to natural as you can get.
